If you’re struggling to come up with things to do this January and how to make it more…exciting, then we’re here to help. You can still have plenty of fun without breaking the bank! Things To Do in January 2025
Get Outdoors with a Treasure Trail
It’s the perfect family adventure that will get everyone outdoors. Whether it’s the kiddies or the grandparents, you’ll all enjoy a little fresh air! There are over 1,200 trails all across the UK, so there are plenty of choices, and there is always a trail close by that will help you stay in your local area.
Winter is always a tricky time to find the motivation to get outside, but with Treasure Trails, you have instant access to all kinds of outdoor walks, wherever and whenever. There’s also no need to book a time slot either, all you do need is download a Trail book and bring a pen!
So, get those legs moving and blood pumping, wrap up warm and take your family on a much-needed outdoor trip!

Hogwarts in the Snow, Watford
Visit Hogwarts in the Snow and witness the magic before your eyes. Be in awe of the trees and woodlands decorated with a flurry of snow, as well as the cobbled stones in Hogsmede all the way to Hagrid’s Hut! It’s still Christmas here, so you can see all sorts of extravagant decorations and puddings aflame and practise your dance moves for the Yule Ball!
Step into the Forbidden Forest, explore Diagon Alley and Gringotts Bank and even munch on some delicious food.
I recommend the butterbeer ice cream! It’s never too cold for deliciously chilly and creamy goodness!
It’s the best place for Harry Potter fans to immerse themselves in a place everyone calls home.

Here…we’ll help you out:
- Winnie the Pooh Park, Aldenham Country Park – a park dedicated to the lovable bear! With swings and woodland structures.
- Ashdown Forest, Sussex – discover Pooh Bridge, play Pooh Sticks, explore the enchanting woodland and immerse yourself in where it all began.
- Pooh Corner, Sussex – Surround yourself with the biggest collection of Pooh-phernalia! Explore the trail, indulge in a little honey-flavoured treat and head out on your own ‘expotition’!
It’s the perfect family-friendly activity and thing to do in January that will lift everyone’s spirits!

Make a 2025 Activity Jar
Grab any glass or mason jar you have around the house and ask everyone in your family to write down 5 activities/places in the UK they would like to do and visit.
They can use pieces of coloured paper or coloured pens to make it look exciting and place them in a jar. Then, every month, someone picks out a slip each month and your family can carry out that activity or visit that place.
Whether you want to try out a music festival this year, explore the outdoors during the winter months or discover a wide range of rich history at a museum. The world is your oyster!

Visit A Cat Cafe
There are many cat cafes in the UK, just like Maison de Moggy, a cosy, homely cafe. With 12 cats who were raised in a loving home, they each have their own personalities and offer therapeutic qualities. An enjoyable experience for all.
I went to the Cat Cafe in Birmingham, and it was so cute! The cats would sleep or play around you and walk high above as they run, play and hide!
