SCREAM IF YOU WANNA GO FASTER! Are you looking for the ultimate theme park break overseas? Whether or not you have already booked your family holiday in Spain, PortAventura Theme Park is a must-visit attraction abroad for all UK families! Located in Salou, Spain is just over 50 miles South-west of Barcelona, the theme park is part of PortAventura World. Did you know it is the largest theme park in Spain and the third largest in the whole of Europe?!

Themed Lands
The main theme park has 6 themed lands: Mediterrània, Polynesia, SésamoAventura, China, México and Far West. You can expect international cuisine, heart-grabbing coasters, giggle-tastic water rides, relaxing train rides & boat trips, parades and vibrant shows.
Mediterrània
Curious? Inspired by a traditional fishing village, Mediterrània is a fun and exotic themed land where visitors can enjoy the coast’s warm climate, friendly people and good food. With lots of impressive shows at the lake, Europe’s fastest roller coaster – Furius Baco, a gift shop, and a chance to dine out on all the best Mediterranean flavours at the Racó de Mar, it’s the ideal spot to explore at the theme park.
Toddlers will adore the Estacio Del Nord train ride, it actually takes you to the different worlds around the park! Embark on a dream voyage around the turquoise lake on the Port De La Drassana. Under a shady thatched roof, guests will sail across to other lands around the park.
Don’t miss the PortAventura Parade at the end of your day out. The fishing village will overflow with floats, colours, music and an entire cast of artists! Kids can spot their favourite park mascots too like Woody, Ernie, Grover and many more!
Polynesia
Need to cool off? Challenge the Tutuki Splash volcano – this ride has photo opportunities and is suitable for those 1.2m tall (adult advised). Explore the outdoor Polynesian dance performance. Feel as if you are taking a voyage into the Polynesian jungle. Set sail in a canoe down the Polynesian Waters or hop aboard the Kontiki – can you resist the storm…
Looking for something more educational & fun? There are many thrilling shows you can attend in this sector of the theme park. Check out the Aves del Paraiso show and watch a colourful array of magnificent birds like macaws, parrots and other exotic birds from around the world as they win over an entire audience. Sésamo Aventura
Were you a huge fan of Sesame Street when you were a kid? Do your kids love it too? Sésamo Aventura is the sixth themed land in PortAventura park packed full of amazing rides. There are 11 attractions in total and to get to them you can board the train ride from Polynesia to Sesamoaventura Station! Try out the 12-metre high El árbol mágico (Magic Tree) – it’s the perfect children’s coaster as kids get to meet all their favourite sesame street characters!
Take a ride on the interactive magic bikes by Zamperla or go on the Magic Fish, it’s a Jetski water ride! Wanna pet some animated cows? Head over to La Granja de Elmo (Elmo’s Farm)! Tractor rides have never been so fun! Spot animated farm animals like cows, pigs and goats along your travels while listening to the catchy rhythm of Sesame Street.
With restaurants, shops, and even more attractions too like Wakiki – the children’s chair ride, it’s the perfect child attraction to visit at PortAventura Theme Park!
China
Take a trip back in time and across the globe to colonial China. Break through the skyline on the Shambhala roller coaster – it’s the tallest roller coaster in the theme park at 76 metres high! Sample the delights of oriental cuisine in the Chinese buffet and attend all the best shows!
Take a spin on the teacups or brave the loop-de-loop of the Dragon Khan coaster. This coaster is best suited to individuals over 1.40 metres tall. Sharpen your aim on the Angkor and let the water fight commence!
For your really littles ones, try out the Area Infantil. With no height restrictions, this made-to-measure world is a great children’s attraction. Youngsters can cross bridges, climb nets, plunge themselves down enormous slides and meet mythical creatures along the way too…
México
On your travels from China to the Far West you may stumble upon a traditional Mexican town. Hang on a minute, are you actually in México?! This beautiful land is an authentic and super fun place to explore within PortAventura Theme Park. Other than thrilling rides, you can taste tacos while listening to good music. Are you coming to La Catina?
Fancy taking a trip by air? How about 100 metres into the sky? It’s time to smash through those fear of heights and scream at the top of your lungs – in a good way! The Hurakan Condor has a minimum height of 1.40 metres and is the ultimate thrill ride for the bravest individuals… Daredevils unite!
How do we feel about entering a maze that looks like an optical illusion? For something more magical and visual visit the head-spinning El Secreto De Los Mayas! Can you outwit the Mayan God and his mighty wraith? Get past all the obstacles, special effects,and challenges and make it to the end! Kids aged 12 or under need to be accompanied by an adult for this attraction.
With so many other great rides and attractions to visit here like the Los Portillos and the epic coaster, Serpiente Emplumada, it’s a great place to spend your day trip.
Far West
Yee-Haw! Anyone up for a dive in the saloon? In this world you will be transported back to the rugged Wild West. Enjoy American cuisine at the Iron horse and savour the taste of a meaty hamburger! Live out your cowboy/cowgirl fantasies as trot down the dusty landscape in search of the best thrills. Watch the Can-can girls perform in the saloon and jump right into North American culture.
There are great water park features too like the Silver River Flume and the Gran Canyon Rapids! Hop into a wooden barrel and spin, spin, spin away in the Crazy Barrels spinning ride. What would a theme park be without some classic amusements like bumper cars? In the Far West you have two bumper car attractions to choose from! Clamber into action on the Wild Buffalos or the Buffalo Rodeo for smash-tastic time.
Ye old dogs are in for a right old riot on the Stampida coaster! It’s time to quick-draw and prepare for a duel. Who will make it to the end first? Race to the finish line like the American settlers race to land! Fast access is available for this ride too, if you want to cut through waiting times.

Is PortAventura open all year round?
Portaventura World is open from the 8th April 2022 until the 5th November. It will then open on Saturdays in November and on selected dates in December, before closing on the 8th January for the winter. Caribe Aquatic Park is open from the 4th June until the 10th September 2022.
Are there lockers at PortAventura?
There are a lot of locker options at PortAventura, which is perfect if you want to enjoy the rides without worrying about holding onto your things. Most of the rides have lockers to store valuables for the duration of the ride, or you can rent one for the whole day for a bit extra instead.
