Lion Ridge at West Midland Safari Park

The Lion Ridge is a brand new exhibit that opened in July 2023! It’s a chance to see the African lions in a way you’ve never done before.

The lions are big cats who live in prides, and in this new habitat, there’s 4 male lions who were actually born in WMSP! Hodge, Harabi, Havoc and Hercules.

What’s so special about this new animal housing? Well, guests at the safari park can now watch them from a new viewpoint. Observe the adult lions discover their new habitat and lion landscapes, splash in the pools and climb rocks and logs!

Their brand new habitat also has a state-of-the-art house for the lions to live in – like their very own lion lodge! There’s plenty of vegetation growing there and their new home allows the lions to walk about indoors and outdoors. Which has never been done before!

It’s certainly a roar-tastic way of celebrating the park’s 50th anniversary!

To celebrate their brand new walk-through, there will be an exciting event – Roar & Explore. Where everyone can join with their pride and get stuck into a whole host of lion-based activities, learn about their conservation and about the lions too!

From a scratch card trail where you could win a VIP Liong Feeding Experience, to a lion photo point where you can transform into a lion yourself! Luscious mane and all…

Not only that but Eddie the Explorer and his friends will be there to host an interactive, multi-sensory live trail! He’ll take you on an adventure as you find the new lions. You can also learn all sorts of lion facts to earn stickers at the Conservation Station and join the Facebook competition to win a stay at the Lion Lodges!! Did we mention they had luxury lodges?! There’s 7 to choose from!

With so many fun activities at this animal attraction this August, you and the family will definitely be having a really wild day out.

Your ticket for this event will also include the four-mile Safari, seeing a range of animals in their animal enclosures and more!

Of course, you can’t visit this incredible park without exploring the rest of the animal attractions! From the Reptile House and Cheetah Enclosure to seeing the African elephants, other exotic animals and more animal encounters!
