What to Expect...
Three separate pumpkin patches sit on this farm just outside Abergavenny, with views over the surrounding countryside while you hunt for the right one. The site is run by Green 2 Earth at Maindiff Court Farm, and it is a straightforward field visit rather than a full day out, which is often exactly what a family with young children wants.
Two maize trails come free with the gate fee, and scarecrows and photo spots are set up around the patches. There is an autumnal flower border and a demonstration vegetable patch to walk past as well, so there is a little more to look at than pumpkins alone. Refreshments run to tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cold drinks and a few snacks, enough to warm everyone up but short of a full cafe.
Booking is not required and you can turn up on the day, though anyone who has filled in the booking form is guaranteed entry if the site gets busy. Worth knowing before you set off: the gate fee is cash, although there is a card machine on site for paying for the pumpkins themselves. Dogs are not permitted anywhere on site.
The site is wheelchair accessible with parking nearby, though not on the patch itself, and the toilet is a basic unisex portable one that is not wheelchair accessible. The season is a short one, three weekends beginning on Saturday 10 October, with the last day on Sunday 25 October.

Pumpkins from £3 to £15 by size
Pumpkins are priced according to size, starting at £3 for the small ones and rising to £15 for the biggest, so it is easy to pick to a budget. The gate fee itself is paid in cash, but there is a card machine on site for settling up on whatever you have picked.
