About Creggan Country Park
Creggan Country Park is a non profit enterprise that offers a full range of outdoor pursuits, watersports, angling and walking. There is something for all ages and ability levels, and all activities are led by professional instructors.
Outdoor activities such as orienteering, raft building, search and rescue, plus Nature and Treasure trails are available, and can be tailored to suit the individual, so it doesn't matter if the kids haven't done it before. They also have an assault course! The canoe fun session are a great way to get into this sport, using pyranha flat full kayaks and state of the art safety equipment. The session begins with a safety briefing, plus an introduction to canoeing, before taking part in a few games with the instructor. There is also the optional opportunity to jump off their pier! This is normally available for kids aged 6 and older, however 4 to 5 year olds can join in, provided they are accompanied by an adult.
8 to 16 year olds can also take part in a variety of Canoe or Kayak lessons, depending on their ability, with Paddlepower for beginners, plus entry level and progressive levels for the more experienced. If the kids like fishing, they also have a great fishery at the Lower Reservoir, which has good access paths and disabled facilities. Anglers have had some great results here over the last 10 years from boats and banks, see how many you can catch!
All equipment is provided, but you will need to bring swimwear, old shoes such as trainers, plus a towel and waterproof sunscreen.
