Pumpkin Picking at The Trough

Pumpkins here are grown on site, in a patch the venue tends itself at Stone Lane on the edge of Yeovil. It is described as bursting with pumpkins of all shapes, colours and sizes, and the wander through it is the point of the visit rather than a queue for a photo.

There is no need to book. You turn up, pull on your wellies, as the venue puts it, and walk in. Dogs are welcome at the patch, so nobody has to be left at home or in the car.

The Trough works as a restaurant, cafe and gift shop as well as a pumpkin patch, serving freshly made dishes crafted with locally sourced produce. That makes it a more comfortable option than a field on its own if the weather turns or somebody needs feeding halfway through, and the gift shop is there for anyone who would rather take home something that does not go soft by November.

One thing to sort out before you plan the day: no admission price is published for the pumpkin patch. The wider site keeps its own opening pattern across the week and closes on Mondays outside bank holidays, so it is worth confirming what you will be charged and when the patch itself is staffed. The same venue runs Christmas Feast Nights on 4 and 18 December 2026, if the autumn visit goes well.
