Pumpkin Picking at Palette and Pasture

Ten acres of pumpkins sit at Pyle Farm outside Frome, with a wide variety to pick and no limit on how many you take. Visitors get up to two hours in the patch, which is more than enough for most families and useful to know if you are planning around a nap.

How you arrive depends on when you come. Weekend visits in October must be pre-booked online and you need proof of your booking at the gate. During half term, from Monday 26 to Saturday 31 October, you simply turn up and pay on entry. Tickets once booked are non-refundable, so look at the forecast before committing to a date.

The farm asks visitors to wear long sleeves, trousers and covered footwear, because there are weeds in the patch and bare legs come off worse. Wheelbarrows can be borrowed, subject to availability, for anyone whose ambitions run ahead of their arms.

Inflatables are set up on site when the weather allows, and the Ice Cream Parlour serves refreshments; the farm is home to Somerset Gelato, so the ice cream is made closer to hand than most. Dogs are welcome, which helps if the family walk and the pumpkin run are the same trip.
