Pumpkin Picking at Forage Farm Shop & Kitchen

The Whacky Patch on the Penllyn Estate carries more than 20 varieties of pumpkin and squash, which is the sort of number that turns picking one into a proper decision. Around it sits a full afternoon rather than a quick field stop: tractor trailer rides, the maize maze, farm animals to meet and hay bales to climb are all included once you are through the gate, along with more than ten autumn photo locations for 2026 and appearances from the Halloween characters The Wicked Duo.

Daytime entry works by pre booked 30 minute arrival slots and you need to arrive inside the slot you picked. Tickets are sold by the car and admit up to five people, so the cost falls differently depending on how many of you travel together. The pumpkins themselves are an extra on top, as are the pony rides with Hooves and Happiness, face painting, balloon modelling, fairground rides and pumpkin catapulting.

Eating is straightforward. Vendors on site sell hot drinks, burgers, hot dogs, chimney cakes, pizza, candyfloss and doughnuts, with Coach Brewery drinks served from noon.

Evenings are a different event altogether. Twilight Picking runs on eleven nights in the second half of October and is recommended for ages 8 and over because of the scarier themed activities, with every under 18 accompanied by an adult. New for 2026, the scare maze is bigger, with more twists, turns and scary actors, and stilt walkers and fire performers appear after dark.

Wear wellies. There is a hard standing car park, but much of the event takes place on a grassy farm field that can be wet and uneven. Dogs on leads are welcome around the food, drink and activity area but cannot go into the pumpkin patches for hygiene reasons.
