Pumpkin Picking at Fairfield Pumpkins

A mile outside Yeovil, just off the A37, this is a patch that does one thing rather than bolting pumpkins onto a farm park. Picking between ten and four needs no booking at all, so a spare afternoon is notice enough.

Pumpkins are charged separately from entry and start at £2, and there is a pricing wall at the paying station so you can work out what you are carrying before you get there. Card payments are accepted.

Refreshments are served on site, with hot and cold drinks from Malton Drinks, and there is seating in an undercover barn if the weather turns, which in late October it often does. The car park is hard standing stone and the barn is concrete, so the parts of the site you stand around in are firmer underfoot than the field.

Two things are worth knowing before you set off. The toilets are reached by steps and are not equipped for disabled visitors, and there are no accessible facilities on site. Dogs are not allowed either, although service dogs are permitted, so this is not the trip for the family spaniel. The ground in the field is uneven in places, and the farm strongly recommends appropriate footwear.

Alongside general picking, the farm runs SEN sessions, school visits and After Dark events. Those are ticketed and have to be booked in advance, unlike an ordinary daytime visit.
