Pumpkin Picking at Active Kids Adventure Park

Burnside Farm at Stanley, a few miles north of Perth, is a working farm with an adventure park attached, and from 17 to 31 October the pick-your-own pumpkin patch opens alongside it. At £4 per child it is priced as an addition to a day out rather than the day out itself.

Each child chooses a pumpkin to take home and is given a sticker and a sweet treat at the end of it. Outdoor games run beside the picking, which gives the rest of the family something to do while one child works slowly through the field deciding which pumpkin is the right one.

The wider site carries the visit. There is an outdoor adventure park, an indoor soft play area and farm animals to meet, and indoor play runs in 90-minute sessions when it is busy, which is worth knowing when you plan the order of your day. The cafe does breakfast, lunch, coffee and cake.

The park opens seven days a week and stays open whatever the weather, with the indoor playground keeping it going year round. In extreme conditions outdoor play may be closed for safety, so dress everyone for a Scottish October either way. Family pets should be left at home, though assistance dogs are welcome.

On Saturday 31 October there is also a separate Spooktacular Halloween session for children aged 3 to 8, with slime potion making and Halloween mask decorating. It is booked online and priced apart from the pumpkin patch.
