Our Arrival & First Impressions

Welcome sign

I was a little overwhelmed by the car park when we arrived; however the lad on the gate quickly found us a suitable disabled spot.

The girl on the counter when we walked in was lovely, we purchased some carrots to feed the animals as I hadn’t done this online in advance.

There was a large sign of events just around the corner, so we made sure to take a picture of this so that we knew what activities were happening on the day.

Activities Breakdown

There were so many activities to do at this farm.

  • The obvious - animals to see - you could also purchase a bucket of carrots to feed them
  • Pet the small animals
  • Soft play area
  • Groom the donkeys
  • Outdoor park
  • Bouncy pillow
  • Foam party (I assume this is only available in summer)
  • Nature trail through the woods

    Feeding the animals

All of the animals seemed really well cared for, the staff knew their names and could tell you their story. The carrots were a much cleaner option for small hands than the pellets that most farms give out and cause a mess.

    Tractor Ride

This was an extra cost to farm entry, but the children really enjoyed it. A bouncy ride up around the fields to see the sheep and highland cows.

    Foam Party

I’m pretty sure this is seasonal and just for the summer holidays, but the children absolutely loved it. They had a great time with loads of foam, fun and laughter.

Food & Drink

The farm had a substantial menu offering of hot & cold food, ice cream and drinks.

The prices were reasonable, but we’d taken a picnic so we only purchased drinks and ice creams. They were lovely and the food that other people were eating looked really nice too.

Money-Saving Tip

If you want to take a picnic, there are loads of indoor and outdoor areas to sit and eat. They also have highchairs too which is great as sometimes this makes me hesitant when taking a picnic somewhere!

Overall Verdict & Ratings

A* Tried & Tested - Day Out With The Kids
Safety & Cleanliness4.0

Overall the farm is lovely and clean and maintained throughout the day. The outdoor area toilets were a bit dirty when we went, it was busy, but I can imagine they’d be much worse on a wet or muddy day.

Rides & Entertainment5.0

There was so much to do, the foam party was a great added bonus, the tractor ride was fantastic (we paid £2 each for this on top of admission)

Food & Drink5.0

Great range of food & drink at reasonable prices.

Queues & Crowds5.0

The day that we went was sold out so the farm was at capacity and we didn’t have to queue or wait around for much at any point in the day. There’s enough space and enough activities going on that you can avoid large crowds.

Fun & Delight5.0

We had an amazing day, I was shocked at how much there was to do and the children were entertained throughout.

Value for Money5.0

Great pricing for a farm, they often have offers on too so keep an eye out for those, but the prices were fab for a full day out, parking is free and extras are reasonably priced, but you could do the day without the extra cost of tractor rides and buying food and drinks there to save more money.

The Final Verdict:

On the whole I was shocked at how much fun we managed to have. The teenager loved it, the child loved it and the baby even got chance to have a crawl around in the soft play and role play areas and also on the astroturf section in front of the stage so wasn’t confined to a pram all day!! We would definitely recommend Reddish Vale Farm and will be going again!!
