Our Arrival & First Impressions
It was just off what is a major main road in Norwich City Centre, but once you pass through the entrance gates to The Plantation Garden, you enter through a vortex into a new world. One that is tranquil, relaxed and quiet. Perfect for taking a moment in a hectic day.
Activities Breakdown
As you walk through the Garden, there are information boards explaining about the history of the garden, its origins and how things were made. As you look into most of the architecture around the gardens, there are long forgotten reminders of Norwich’s past when they would use any piece of pottery/material they could in the design, as can be seen in the two architectural photos above. There are huge variations of flowers and plants throughout the garden and the relaxing sound of the fountain is so peaceful as you walk through the garden, with plenty of seating around for you to stop and take in the surroundings. On Sundays it does seem that they do music afternoons with refreshments available as well which was advertised at the entrance to the Garden.

Fountain
The Fountain is an amazing feature of the Garden, seeing the water spurt from the top of the fountain and hearing the refreshing sound of the water flowing across the fountain is so relaxing. It has hundreds of tadpoles and pond skaters within the waters and a frog bridge for later in the season.

The Archway
The Archway is just passed the fountain and makes an ideal photo stop as you move through the garden with a seat on the bottom making it a comfortable stop.

Alcove Architecture
The Alcove Architecture also makes a perfect photo stop with the perfect inclusion for a person allowing central display within the structure.
Food & Drink
When we went on a weekday mid morning, we took refreshments with us, as there was no refreshments available to purchase on site. But on selected days there is music within the garden which does come along with the chance to purchase food and drink (but I haven’t experienced this selection so cannot comment)

It’s perfect for getting a coffee before arriving to drink while exploring the garden.

Overall Verdict & Ratings
The Garden was clean and seemed to be well looked after in all regards.
The Entertainment here is the relaxing atmosphere and the chance to enjoy nature through the beautiful presented Garden, Fountain and Architecture.
No Food & Drink available on Majority of Opening Times apart from Special Events.
Often the Garden is not busy meaning it almost feels like you have the garden to yourself, it is easy enough to space out from others, and the space is vast to cope with numbers of visitors. When we went there was about 12 people within the Garden altogether.
It is not an attraction for the kids, or one that is stimulating enough to keep those looking for something exciting and with adrenaline happy. But for those looking to unwind in beautiful surroundings with the pleasant sound of the fountain, while taking in a huge amount of nature, architecture and beautiful scenery it would be amazing.
For £2, there is no time limit to your visit, it is honestly an amazing price for entry and children accompanied by adults are free. We thought it was great value for money.
The Final Verdict:
We bought a coffee prior to arriving at The Garden and had a great time exploring the garden as a first time going to the garden despite living in Norwich for the last 11 years. We were humbly surprised by how much we enjoyed relaxing in the surroundings of the garden and enjoyed walking through the various parts of the garden from the flower arrangements, fountain, architecture and summer house to the high path and wildlife which is apparent throughout the park. We would recommend this to anyone looking to explore a garden where the normal pressure of daily life is left at the gate when you enter and you can just be yourself again as you explore what is an amazing garden. You won’t be upset by paying a visit.
