Our Arrival & First Impressions
The queue for pre booked tickets was really short, certainly recommend doing this (it is free) because the queue for non-ticket holders went all the way up the street!
Activities Breakdown
We went straight down to the basement for the soft play area, Francis spent an hour in here but could have been so much longer! There was a small climbing frame, blocks for building, water play, role play/theatre area and so much more. This was included within the ticket. As for the rest of the museum, we only visited the cars, vehicles and the space section. Francis loved it all but was very tired after our journey on the train and then the tube.

The basement!
The water activities were a big hit, and he also really enjoyed the role play and all the different sensory activities. It was quite busy when we visited, but the staggered entry meant there was always a good opportunity to get stuck into the different activities without it feeling too overwhelming. A great place for little ones to explore, play and have fun!
Food & Drink
We took snacks and purchased some sausage rolls on the way from Greggs at the train station. Before we left, we visited the shake bar where Francis had a cupcake and I had an ice cream which was unreal!
Money-Saving Tip
Take lots of snacks for the journey and refillable water bottles!

Very busy in some places, some older children in the little children’s area that were sometimes pushy - Hard to book last-minute in the summer holidays

Areas all seemed safe and clean

We only tried the ice cream and cupcakes which were nice but expensive if there are lots of you!
No queuing required but there were crowds around popular exhibits
Francis massively enjoyed the basement play area, the cars and the planes too!
A free day out in London after paying for travel - which was half the fun anyway!
The Final Verdict:
The interactive toddler area downstairs was definitely the highlight of the visit and his favourite part by far. He loved seeing the planes and the car in the main museum, but at three, I think the toddler area is what really kept him engaged. Without it, he probably wouldn’t have enjoyed the museum for quite as long. We’ll definitely be back, especially as he gets older and can start to take in and understand more of the information and exhibits.
