Activities Breakdown

Space for our football crazy boy
So much to learn about this space

There was no shortage of things to do during our visit. The park offers huge open spaces to explore, making it perfect for families who enjoy being outdoors. One of the biggest hits was the zipline activities, which added a real sense of adventure and kept the children entertained for ages. For those looking for something more active, there were also a range of water sports available. We loved that there was a mix of exciting activities and peaceful areas to relax, making it easy to spend a full day here. The grounds were well maintained and there was plenty of room to spread out, even on a busy day

Food & Drink

There was a restaurant on site that were serving a Sunday carvery, the restaurant had an outside seating area overlooking the lake where dogs were welcome too!

Money-Saving Tip

Personally with young children I’d say bring a picnic and plenty of drinks! There is facilities available but for a cheaper day out, bring your own! There is so much space to picnic.

Negative

Could Be Better

  • CrossThere is a charge for the children’s play area but considering the upkeep costs of Lough Key I think this is reasonable

Overall Verdict & Ratings

A* Tried & Tested - Day Out With The Kids
Safety & Cleanliness5.0

Everywhere was beautifully clean. The toilets were regularly checked and maintained and we saw no rubbish or dog mess!

Rides & Entertainment5.0

There is plenty to do here. If you have teens the zip line and water sports will keep them entertained for hours! For smaller children, the play park, castle ruins and space to roam free is ideal.

Food & Drink5.0

Plenty of options for either a full meal or ice cream and snacks!

Queues & Crowds5.0

We went on a hot day and there was no crowding or queues

Fun & Delight5.0

Our boys had the best time, navigating days with neurodivergence can be tricky but Lough Key is the perfect place to skip the overwhelm

Value for Money5.0

Bring a picnic and you will need no more than €20 and thats if you pay for the play area and grab an ice cream!

The Final Verdict:

This has quickly become one of our favourite family days out. With beautiful scenery, plenty of space, exciting activities and something for all ages, it’s somewhere we’ll return to again and again. We’ve already recommended it to friends and family and wouldn’t hesitate to do so again. A fantastic day out that offers great value and memories that last long after you’ve gone home. 💚🌳
