Day Out at Magna Science Adventure

Our first impression came before we had even entered the car parking space. As we drove in, the children spotted the huge outdoor play area and splash park and immediately couldn’t wait to explore them. Once through the entrance, the excitement continued as the colourful interactive light wall caught their attention, instantly introducing them to Magna’s hands-on approach to learning through play.

There was so much to do at Magna that it easily kept our children—aged 12, two and one—interested throughout our visit.

Inside, the attraction is divided into four immersive sections: Air, Earth, Water and Fire. Each area has interactive activities that encourage children to touch, experiment and learn through play. The exhibits felt educational without being like a school lesson, and even the adults learned something. Our children particularly loved the hands-on water activities, the dramatic fire display and the opportunity to dress up. There is also an indoor soft-play area, which was perfect for letting our toddler explore and burn off some energy.

Outside, there is a huge adventure playground suitable for different ages. It was much bigger than we expected, with plenty to climb, explore and play on—we could easily have spent most of the day in that area alone. There is also a large outdoor splash park, so bringing swimwear, towels and a change of clothes is a good idea. The nearby Snack Shack is convenient if you want to buy drinks or refreshments while the children play. There is also a sandpit, giving younger children another activity to enjoy.

The whole attraction felt spacious, immersive and genuinely interactive. Despite having a large age gap between our children, there was something for everyone, and nobody was bored. The staff we met were friendly and helpful, which made our first visit feel welcoming.

There is a café downstairs, although we had brought a packed lunch because we did not realise food was available before our visit. Families can therefore choose to purchase food or take their own lunch.

One of Magna’s biggest advantages is the value for money. After paying for admission, eligible tickets include return visits for 12 months, subject to the attraction’s terms. With so much indoors and outdoors to explore, we would need more than one visit to experience everything properly, making the annual return entry particularly worthwhile for families.

There is a café downstairs offering a good-looking range of food and drinks, with options that appeared suitable for both adults and children. The prices looked reasonable for a family attraction, although we didn’t purchase anything, so I can’t comment on the quality. As it was our first visit and we didn’t realise food was available, we brought a packed lunch. There is also a Snack Shack near the outdoor playground and splash park for convenient refreshments.
