This is not our first visit to Chester Zoo, it is one of our favourite places to go for a day out.
Saturday was quite busy, but despite the volume of people we had no problems moving around or seeing the animals.

We started the day with a trip to the bat house, we were lucky that when we arrived there was no queue but this can be hit an miss as when we left there was a long queue waiting to go inside.
We love walking through and just standing watching the bars fly around - I always recommend wearing a hat or putting a hood up though as bat poops are quite common!
From here we went to the House of Sumatra cafe, it is our favourite for a snack and a coffee in the morning. My husband loves their coffee and thats saying something! We got a delicious donut to share between us too - they're huge! We had also packed some snacks and they are happy for you to eat your own food in there too.
Its only a short walk from there to the Monsoon Forest, and I dont know how, but we have never explored in here before! It is quite a long winding walk through many curtains, it's also quite hot and humid, but absolutely beautiful!

We had coffee at the House of Sumatra and a donut, we also bought Ice Cream from a hut near the Madagascar play area.
Personally dont rate June's Food Court and actively avoid it as the food quality when we have visited before has been quite poor, dry chicken, cold fries, however all the other food outlets have been great.
Take a packed lunch, there are so so many places to have a picnic, both indoors and outside, you save a lot by not buying a mean meal there.
Toilets are clean, but the floor sometimes can be a little wet between cleans - hopefuly just water. The Bembe restaurant toilet has smaller queues then the one by the main entrance
They sometimes have fairground rides but these cost extra, but as far as entertainment goes, the animals and parks keep the children well entertained.
We always bring a packed lunch and snacks to keep costs down.
Despite being busy, the crowds didnt prevent us from geting around or being able to gwt up close to the animals
So much fun
When you can be there from 10 till 8pm during the summer, the value is exceptional
I always recommend Chester Zoo as a wonderful day out, and we are going back next weekend!
