The entrance was spacious and no queues to get through the ticket checkers. We were immediately welcomed by the elephants splashing in the water.

The zoo has lots of animals to view, with a good mix of viewing from a distance and walk through experiences.
It also has some other activities when you need a break from walking around such as the off road driving experience for kids which my son enjoyed very much, and the lazy boat trip which unfortunately we ran out of time for.

we booked a table at the pub in the zoo for lunch, it wasn’t particularly busy on this day but I’d still recommend booking ahead.
The food here was excellent and all the generations had plenty of options to sit out tastes.
Plenty of picnic benches around the zoo, some of which were covered of you wanted to bring your own food
The whole zoo seemed very clean
The animals are the obvious main attractions but there’s other activities such as a fun fair
The good in the pub was excellent, other options are also available.
There were no queues for anything on the last weekend of the summer holidays.
It’s still my favourite zoo.
It can be expensive but it does feel worth it.
Chester zoo is still my favourite zoo and glad I got to take my son to it like I went as a child.
