    The main Christmas Market is located in the Parliament Street and St. Sampson’s Square area of York city centre, North Yorkshire. Also known as the York St Nicholas Fair, 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the market.

    York is one of the UK’s most festive cities with beautifully decorated shops and attractions, plus a variety of Christmas special events.

    Opening times for the York Christmas Market are from 17th November 2022- 23rd December 2022.

    The streets of the market are lined with twinkling Christmas trees, creating a festive wonderland. You will find local traders selling artisan products and handmade gifts from alpine chalet type market stalls. Why not pick up a new Christmas decoration or festive gift? Are you a foodie? Then, an array of delicious food vendors will tempt you with ranges of cheeses, chutney and chilli jams!

    The charming country style Yorkshire Barn in St Sampson’s Square will give you a cosy festive feeling. Seasonal treats such as hot chestnuts and mulled wine will delight shoppers visiting the Christmas market.

    In addition, nearby the main market area in Kings Square, you will discover a lovely attraction for families. A funfair with classic helter-skelter and vintage carousel.

    York Minster Winter Village

    This popular festive event returns in 2022. The York Minster has amazing history and is one of oldest cathedrals in the world. The Winter Village comprises of several decorative wooden huts selling Christmassy food, drinks and gifts. The Winter Village is part of the many events and festive markets across the city, that are planned for the York Christmas Festival 2022.

    Also, this year there are plans again to have picnic benches near the wooden huts, perfect to stop and take in the scenic view of York city centre at Christmas time.

    There are additional Christmas cabins selling festive gifts in the Coppergate area of York. Here you can tick off an essential December event for children, a visit to Santa’s Grotto!

    Getting to the Market

    If you are travelling to York by car, we recommend you park in one of the NCP car parks right in centre of York. These car parks are conveniently located near many shops and the York Christmas market on Parliament Street. Then, you will be right in the centre of the city so can spend more time buying those all important presents!

    Alternatively, if you are arriving by train, the city centre and Christmas markets are around a 10 minute walk from York train station.
