We’ll list the very best! Innovative, exciting and creative.
Kids’ Birthday Party Ideas
Whatever your kids love, it’ll be super special if their birthday party was themed to it! If they love superheroes, dressing up as fairies and princesses, likes to live under the sea or sail through the waves as pirates. Set up treasure hunts and bring their favourite theme to life. Check out these themed kids party ideas:
1. Harry Potter Party
Decorate the room or party tables with house banners, owl balloons, and floating candles to set the ambience. For food and drink, have glass jars filled with Honeyduke sweets, from Every Flavour Jelly Beans, jelly-bellied snakes, chocolate frogs and more. The drink can be pumpkin juice or butterbeer!
Have a sorting hat on the table, with wand-making classes and you could even set up a mini Quidditch pitch in the garden! You could also hire a magician for an hour to perform all sorts of magic tricks!
2. Superheroes
With a bright colour theme, and solid coloured balloons or superhero balloons to match, you’ve got the decorating down. From balloons, and banners, to party streamers on the walls (making the perfect backdrop for a photoshoot area|)! Bright colours are a must to nail the theme of beloved comic books.
Grab some superhero-themed party hats, paper plates and paper masks (to hide their identity of course) and goodie bags. Not forgetting to make sure the birthday cake has all your kid’s favourite superheroes on it. Whether it’s the bat signal in chocolate fondant or Thor’s Hammer sitting proudly on top.
For some fun activities, why not a superhero temporary tattoo or face painting station? A bouncy castle for all their heroic antics or a foam pit to jump into as they fly?
A super fun, superhero party!
3. Jungle-Themed Party
The decorating might be a bit more tricky, but it’s all worth it. Make jungle-themed decorations with green, brown and brightly coloured pieces of paper. Whether you cut out giant leaves and stick them on the walls, make trees out of cards and lots of green balloons! A good idea will be to find some animal balloons too. Whether it’s a giraffe, elephant or monkey’s head to a tiger!
Some really wild party plates and cups are next on the list – green and orange cupcakes with animal toppers and sweet bags filled with gummy bears, sour worms, foam bananas and more. To top it all off, decorate the room with animal teddies, so they really feel like they’re in the jungle.
Party activities could include pinning the tail on the tiger, face painting or a ring toss over an elephant’s trunk! The possibilities are endless.
4. Fantasy Creatures
Whether you have dragon balloons, mermaids or fairy balloons in every corner, colourful banners adorning the walls and party tables. Themed party supplies like paper plates and cups are a must, as well as cupcakes with fairy toppers! Obviously, you need to sprinkle some ‘fairy dust‘ on the tables and also on any sweet treats! Make dragon fire-breathing pizzas, rainbow-themed ice cream and lots of goodies for party favours.
For kid’s party games and activities for children, have a friendship bracelet-making station, arts and crafts and a competition to see who can make the best unicorn horn (using plain party hats!).
You could also have a photo booth station with dragon props! We found some really cool ones from Etsy.
5. Under The Sea
The centre stage should obviously be the party treat table! The backdrop can either be blue, silver and green streamers with paper starfish and jellyfish stuck to it or if you can, get a sea backdrop. Balloons are a must – an arch, stuck to the table or around the floor – blue, white and green! Add fairy lights to the mix for a shimmer effect like the ocean waves.
Then if you have any netting, wrap it around a coffee table for aesthetics. Make sure to add some crabs, starfish and other knick knacks like a cutout anchor and steering wheel to add to the birthday table.
Then set up a scavenger hunt to find ‘lost treasures’ – and at the end have a treasure chest, you can decide what it’s filled with!
To spice it up have some kids dress up as pirates and have a make-believe battle!
At Home Kids Birthday Party Ideas
The ideas above can certainly be done at home, but these ideas are for when you don’t want to go too overboard and when you feel simple is better!
6. Movie Themed
Drape some fairy lights around the TV or some colourful LED lights.
Custom-make or buy banners that are shaped like movie tickets and get a film clapper board that says ‘____’s birthday party’. Have your child pick out all their favourite movies beforehand, so you can get it set up. If they like Marvel, stream all the movies from start to finish!
For snacks, of course, you need lots of popcorn!! Sweet, salty, caramel, butter, cinnamon…the possibilities are endless. Have a popcorn buffet! OR have boxes to take away (to their comfy seat) filled with a selection of treats and nibbles. Don’t forget the pick-and-mix sweets, make a bunch of nachos, hot dogs and pizza pinwheels. Have a bucket filled with drinks too!
7. Pizza Party
Set up a pizza-making station where you have a number of pre-bought dough bases, lots of marinara sauce and bowls of different toppings! Peppers, mushrooms, sausage, sweetcorn, pepperoni and more. Have lots of cheese available too, maybe even different types to make it more interesting. The kids can make their own personal pizza, whether they make a face out of the toppings or something else!
Simple, easy and everyone gets something special to eat after!
8. Spa Day
From face and eye masks (don’t forget the cucumber!), to foot masks, nail painting and hair styling! Facemasks are cheap from Superdrug and so are the non-branded nail polish. Purchase some hair chalk for amazing and creative hair designs!
Snacks are a must, choose whichever is your kid’s favourite and at the end of their pampering day, treat them to pizza and ice cream!
Here are some pamper decorations!
9. Football Parties
Dress the kids up in their best footie outfits and watch them have a kickabout and a friendly competition. In the Premiership, you’ll also get a range of delicious foods, a football-themed cake, bootbag full of goodies and medals for the children too!
£165 for 10 kids (including food, drink, birthday cake and more)
10. Trampolining Parties
After the kids are tired out from all that bouncing energy, they can munch on pizza, snacks, cake and all sorts of treats. A fantastic birthday party adventure for thrill seekers and those who have bounds of energy to burn!
£165 for 10 kids (including food, drink, birthday cake and more)
