Our Arrival & First Impressions
Now, I wasn’t sure how much entertainment we could get out of looking up and a few kites in the sky but it was a great afternoon. Even if it did drizzle a bit.
We took the Park and Ride bus which is always a preference on a busy Southsea event day, but can be a pain getting back.
Southsea Common was open for additional parking and Portsmouth City Council were running free buses on weekends in September which could help.
Activities Breakdown
I didn’t expect there to be so much there.
Amongst the food stalls and usual Summer Fayre type stands, there were also some inflatables, live music and full commentary on the different kites.
The kites ranged from a giant whale and Chinese dragon to Lady Bug from Miraculous and astronaut.

So much more impressive than I imagined
Food & Drink
We took a picnic, camping chairs and a picnic blanket. We even had birthday cake for our nieces birthday.
We had some decent tea and coffee as well as doughnuts, and plenty of others on offer but can be a bit pricey. Not as pricey as some attractions, the usual prices for a festival type event.

As clean as it can be on a seafront open space

Perfect for a family picnic but can be pricey if you want to feed the family from the food trucks
There seemed to be a fair bit of space for all the crowds to enjoy the day. But there were some queues for the park and ride bus home.
Great place to spend some time together as a family
5 because it’s a free event but dropped to 4 due to the price of the food

Great free family fun day. Would definitely visit again and recommend to family and friends.
