If one word could sum up being a parent, it’s planning. Planning means deciding what the kids are having for dinner, who can pick them up after school or which outfit you’ll force them into on an early start! It’s an essential part of life - and never more so than when thinking about the school holidays. What are the school holidays this year? How many are there? When is it half term in Scotland? When are the kids off again?

There’s almost no end to what you could choose from with well over 6,000 attractions, and we promise won’t judge if you can’t fit them all into one year!

Start by searching for things to do near you by entering your postcode on the homepage, or check out some of or recommendations for the different times of year below:

Sheep racing at a farm park

February half term is that lovely time of year when the woods seem to wake up after their winter sleep and you can finally go out and explore again!

As well as Easter Egg Hunts and more chocolate than any kid could ever need (see if they agree!), the Easter holidays are all about farm parks and baby animals.

Keep cool in the (slightly) higher temperatures of the summer holidays with a visit to an aqua park, or try an indoor water park if the weather is decidedly more British.

The October half term in Autumn, always comes with a healthy dose of muddy puddles, multicoloured leaves and spook-factor. Why not go pumpkin picking or try a creepy event at a theme park?

Autumn leaves at Lee Valley Park

Ho ho how are you going to spend your Christmas holidays? The list is almost stuffed as Santa’s sack with Christmas markets, ice skating rinks, indoor skiing or even paying a visit to the big man himself at one of the many Santa's grottos open at this time of year. Whatever you do, make sure it’s magical.
