Looking for egg-cellent Easter events and things to do during the Easter school holidays? We’ve been busy hatching plans to hunt down the best days out and events to keep the kids entertained throughout the Easter holidays.

We’ve already revealed the top Easter egg hunts near you, done our guide to Cadbury Easter egg hunts, but for even more Easter fun, here are some of our favourite events taking place during the Easter holidays. We’ve even included some suggestions in case the beast from the East rears its head again and we have a white Easter on our hands.  Let’s get cracking…

  1. Easter holiday fun at Conkers, Derbyshire

Home to all things outdoor adventure, Conkers is a great visitor centre for kids to get stuck into this Easter. Every day, there are loads of ranger-led activities, including orienteering, bushcraft and pond dipping, plus an Easter bunny challenge too. With live shows every day, plus a craft corner too, it’s the ideal event for the whole family.

When: Saturday 24th March - Sunday 15th April, including Easter Sunday and Easter Monday
Weather warning: With loads of indoor fun, including the 4D Cinema and Enchanted Forest Indoor Play Zone!, it’s perfect for kids whatever the weather!

  2. Hatch Fest at Edinburgh Zoo, Edinburgh

If a Hatchimal was top of your kid’s Christmas list last year, then they’ll love Edinburgh Zoo’s Easter event for 2018, Hatch Fest. Inspired by the popular toy, this themed trail will give the whole family the chance to learn about the animals that lay and hatch eggs, with visits to see pelicans, penguins, insects, snakes and more along the way!

When: Saturday 31st March - Sunday 15th April, including Easter Sunday and Easter Monday
Weather warning: Scotland gets its fair share of snow, but it does mean these hardy Scots know how to handle the weather. With lots of outdoor fun, check before you travel and wrap up warm!

  3. Sharks in the City at Bristol Aquarium, Bristol

Celebrating all things shark, there’s plenty to sink your teeth into at Bristol Aquarium this Easter. This event will be your first chance to see the brand new Port Jackson sharks on display, alongside native species and tropical sharks, for a day out with plenty of bite. With fun games, workshops, talks and themed crafts too, it promises to be a jaw-some day out this Easter.

When: Saturday 24th March - Sunday 15th April, including Easter Sunday and Easter Monday
Weather warning: All the action takes place indoors, so even if the Easter weather isn’t on top form, your day out will be!

  4. Fizzy Dippy Eggs at Seaton Jurassic, Devon

Dyeing and decorating eggs is always a fun Easter activity, but at Seaton Jurassic they’re kicking it up a notch, with the chance to make them fizz too! This fun craft activity is part of a wider Jurassic-themed Easter event, but we love this creative, messy and even eggsplosive craft activity - plus the best bit is that you’re not in charge of the cleaning up! Egg-cellent.

When: Saturday 30th March - Sunday 15th April, including Easter Sunday and Easter Monday
Weather warning: A whole load of dinosaur fun under one roof, no need to rely on the weather for this one!

Game on this Easter, as gaming event Power Up returns to London’s Science Museum. This hands-on, fully interactive event features the best games and consoles from the past 40 years; think Pac Man, Mario Kart and Minecraft! Let the grown-ups battle the kids to see who is the ultimate gaming champ, rediscover childhood favourites and put the latest virtual reality tech to the test - perfect Easter fun for all ages.

When: Friday 30th March - Sunday 15th April, including Easter Sunday and Easter Monday
Weather warning: It’s all indoors, so no need to let the weather ruin your fun!

Ready for a curious treehouse adventure this Easter? There’s a brand new Bunny Burrow at Bewilderwood, where Cedric the Easter bunny is ready to say hello, complete with lots of chocolate-y goodies and hopping good fun. There are loads more Easter activities too as part of this event, thanks to Boggle Bunny Ear crafts, a themed story on the Storytelling Stage and a whole host of colourful characters to meet!

When: Saturday 24th March - Sunday 15th April, including Easter Sunday and Easter Monday
Weather warning: The trees of the forest might help keep you dry during light showers, but you might want to pack a raincoat just in case! As it’s mostly outdoors, some activities may be closed in bad weather.

  7. Chocolate Workshops at Life Science Centre, Tyne and Wear

Easter is a time of year when we all go chocolate mad, but do you know the science behind our love of the sweet stuff? That’s exactly what you’ll discover in this science-themed Easter event at Life Science Centre. Perfect for ages 5+ and valid with your main entry ticket, this workshop will put your taste buds to the test and reveal the reasons why we love chocolate. Warning: it may induce some serious Easter egg cravings!

When: Friday 30th March - Sunday 15th April, including Easter Sunday and Easter Monday
Weather warning: This is an indoor eggstravaganza of activities - plenty of hands-on things to keep the kids entertained come rain or shine!

Easter and science combine again in this fun event at Techniquest in Cardiff throughout the holidays. Head to the science theatre to catch a themed show all about eggs, from how to tell if they’re boiled or raw, how strong they are and why they turn solid when heated. Educational and full of fun, this is a great alternative Easter event that’s not just all about chocolate and egg hunts!
