If you’re looking for things to do in Birmingham then Mr Mulligans Birmingham should make it to the top of your list – take it from us, we went there at the start of April!

If you want a reliable account of what’s on offer before spending your hard-earned money, then follow along for the latest review blog of Mr Mulligans Birmingham. We’ll take you through everything from the three epic adventure golf courses in another dimension to the fantastic bar and restaurant and the amenities onsite. We also have some helpful and money-saving tips down below too!

What makes Mr Mulligans Birmingham a good day out?

space themed mini golf course at mr mulligans birmingham
Mr Mulligans It’s one of few attractions that really does have it all from adventurous space-themed indoor golf courses to cocktails, delicious food and onsite parking (with a discount)! And it’s perfect for all ages and occasions whether that’s a first date between teenagers, family birthday celebrations, weekend treats for the kids or a place to chill out with friends.

You’ll find friendly staff stationed around the area to help you if you need it which is great if you get confused with where to go next as the golf courses are quite big.

And finally, the location is amazing! What many Brummies don’t realise (myself included) is that Mr Mulligans is nestled in Broadway Plaza and this area of Birmingham needs to be shouted about a lot more! There are so many great family restaurants and attractions within the plaza, and there is even a cinema located here too.

There is also onsite parking below the plaza so it couldn’t be more accessible for families! There are multiple bus stops nearby too and tram stops. You get the perks of being in the city centre with much less faff and stress so make sure you head you head to the Broadway Plaza!

If you feel nervous about driving into Birmingham (like I was) you’ll feel relieved to know that the Broadway Plaza is located 9 minutes away from the city centre so you miss the majority of the traffic and hustle and bustle of the city. There is just one big and busy island to conquer and the rest is fairly straightforward. We travelled from Solihull but I would also travel the same route as someone who lives in the South West of Birmingham.

Here’s a nugget of useful and savvy info which we didn’t know upon arriving… Mr Mulligans’ customers receive the first 3 hours of their parking FREE! All you have to do is validate your parking using a validation terminal at the venue you are visiting.

The Adventure Begins…

'mars base' glowing blue tunnel in the middle of indoor golf course
Families will love the immersive golf courses that follow an unusual space theme. Choose from three courses: Wastelands (dusty Mars-like course), Supernova (like the inside of a space shuttle or science lab), and Asteroid (similar to Wastelands but with less cool features). And before the game begins, you’ll get your pick of colourful golf balls. I went with red!

Keep your eyes peeled for aliens, toxic waste cans, astronauts, and other quirky features of the course. We personally loved the glowing walkthrough tunnel otherwise known as the ‘Mars Base’ and the ultraviolet room which was part of the Wastelands course.

Each hole you play has an interactive tablet which offers up a game of ‘Spin The Wheel’. When you spin the wheel it lands on a challenge to make sure your gameplay is extra fun. I got ‘Take your first shot with your eyes closed’ quite a few times – I still smashed it, of course…

Each hole has many challenges whether that’s hidden gradients, bridges, spirals, jagged corners, and even dark spots. We found that in the ultraviolet room (on the Wastelands course) the golf ball that looked the most luminous was the orange ball.

If you’ve got a few bags, coats or drinks with you there are lots of tables and hooks as you go round each hole. Alternatively, there are lockers you can use which are situated next to the bar area.

I thought each course was bigger than I expected and super immersive with attention to detail in each room. There are so many great photo opportunities with aliens and astronauts dotted around the course. And of course, there are hilarious video opportunities on offer too. Watching your friends or family members try out one of the set challenges really is wild. We had a real laugh watching each other try to hop and put at the same time. Putting the ball with your eyes closed was also an intense experience… We just made sure that we ducked in case the ball went airborne…

We went around in a group of 4 and found that each hole took us less than 5 minutes at a time but some took a while longer as each hole has different obstacles or challenges. I think It took me 7 goes in total until I got the ball into one of the holes on the Supernova course… YIKES! We did all three courses and ate a delicious meal all in 5 hours so it really was a full day out.

My favourite course was probably Supernova purely because of the cool tunnel and the theming was very different to the other two courses. You really do feel like you are in another galaxy!

Kids will love these courses as they are totally immersive and large-scale. Memories at Mr Mulligans Birmingham will definitely remain etched into their brains for a long time. They’ll feel as if their sci-fi fantasies come alive while they put towards victory.

Delicious Dishes & Service at Mr Mulligans…

pizza, chicken tenders, three bowls of fries, two and two chicken burgers laid out on a dining table
I think the common worry with attractions is how good the food will be and if it’s worth spending the money.

We ate very well at Mr Mulligans sharing chicken burgers, chicken tenders, three lots of fries, and vegetarian pizzas between us. One thing I loved was how generous they were with the fries! They came in a basket so you would probably only need two baskets (or one) to share between a family of four – unless you have an appetite as big as Jupiter!

I had the chicken burger and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a nice light meal that left me full rather than feeling stodgy and the food was served very quickly. And yes, I obviously loaded up my meal with lots of fries too – how could I resist?

Katie’s vegetarian pizza looked amazing too. It was a thin base and stonebaked with a decent sprinkling of jalapenos, peppers, and tomatoes.

We left all our plates empty apart from half a basket of fries which is why I emphasise getting one or two portions rather than three!

There are plenty of family favourites on the menu that we definitely want to try time like the wraps, sharing plates, and many more pizzas. There is also a kid’s menu on offer too.

We sat in the dining area which BTW is HUGE! There are lots of different tables to sit a from booths to high-up seating, regular tables and bar seats. You’ll be spoilt for choice!

In terms of drinks, I just had bottled water as I was driving. HOWEVER, don’t think that I didn’t eye up the slush puppies and cocktails because I did!!! There are many colourful concoctions on offer for kids and adults so don’t be shy to delve into something new. The cocktails would make the perfect addition to your date nights or friend nights. And what’s more? You can enjoy 2 for £12 cocktails every day from 5pm – 7pm at Mr Mulligans Birmingham.

What we also didn’t make use of when we were there was the on-course waiter service which provides the ultimate daytime-to-nighttime addition for your group.

In order to exit the car park you must continue driving down a few levels and follow the exit sign. It is not in the same area as the entrance to the car park – this took me a few minutes to work out while I was down there.

Final Thoughts of Mr Mulligans Birmingham

rocky 'wastelands' sign at mr mulligans birmingham
Overall I’d 100% recommend this venue to families as it has everything you would want from a family attraction in terms of its immersive activities, surreal theming, extra amusements, delicious family meals (that even fussy eaters will enjoy), great staff, parking onsite (underground parking), discounts, and excellent photo opportunities.

However, if you are a family that has disabilities you may want to contact the venue about which course is the most accessible or wheelchair friendly. There is also dim lighting in certain parts of the courses so this is also something to consider if you have low visibility.
