Infusion is not your average rollercoaster!

It’s a suspended looping coaster at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in Lancashire, England, guaranteeing an adrenaline rush like no other! The coaster is to the right of The Big Dipper on the Watson Overpass at Blackpool’s Pleasure Beach.

Unlike traditional coasters, it has no floor under the riders, allowing the train to run below the track rather than above it.

What’s so unique about this rollercoaster? It provides the feeling of weightlessness while riding. As you see the floor disappear, your feet are left dangling freely in the air.

AND, to top it all off, Infusion is the first rollercoaster in the world to be suspended over water! This means that instead of looking down at the grey gravel or lush green grass – you are 689m above blue water!

It definitely adds some adventure to rollercoasters, you feel like you’re flying through the sky!

The coaster features water jets and fountains and at night is illuminated by floodlighting. Definitely worth riding the coaster at night time too – it’s such a different experience.

Did you know that Infusion was originally called the Tramatizer and was sponsored by the drink Tizer? The coaster relocated from Pleasureland Southport in 2007 and underwent a rebrand and re-theme to become the Infusion we know today.

It’s the one with an elderly couple sitting down to have a snack only to realise they have sat on a rollercoaster. They end up riding the rollercoaster and getting off looking a little confused.

You are probably thinking, what does this have to do with Blackpool’s Infusion roller coaster ride? 

But did you know that the rollercoaster in the advert was actually Infusion? It was advertised the year Infusion opened to the public.

I remember thinking it was such a cheesy and funny advert and honestly loved it every time it came on TV.

Ali Chaudhary describes this ride as a “Thrill to the extreme” and Scott Freeman said that  “It would get the 5 star rating of it was less rough throws you around like you wouldnt belive, all in all it has a great track layout the inversions are great and where its set out in the park theming around the ride is great, koi pond is a great touch suspended all over water too even the que line is a bright over water a great too.”

All in all, Infusion is guaranteed to get your heart pounding as you soar across the water, earning a 3.5 on our DOWTK Thrillometre! (With 1 being Chill Thrills and 5 being a Thrill Titan).
