Things to do in the East Dunbartonshire School Holidays

East Dunbartonshire is known for its outstanding natural environment and it also borders the popular city of Glasgow. There are lots of magical walks, cool attractions and activities you can plan to visit in the upcoming school holidays, teacher training days, and weekend breaks.

Mugdock Country Park

Mugdock Country Park, Glasgow

Mugdock Country Park is an excellent FREE attraction to visit during the school holidays. Take a bike ride down the 2.5-mile cycle paths then treat yourself to a cuppa or slice of cake in the cafe. Kids can run wild in the children’s play area with an adventure assault course! For just £2 you can buy an orienteering pack and go exploring. There is also archery and many other excellent fun family activities on offer.

Gruffalo trail in woods

The Gruffalo Trail at Kilmardinny Loch

This beautiful body of water is surrounded by plenty of lush greenery, smooth walking footpaths, oh, and the occasional Gruffalo character. You can find these adorable wooden characters next to benches, peering over trees and dotted along the path.

Meet all your favourite Julia Donaldson characters like the Owl and the Fox, and Mouse as well as smaller sculptures like mushrooms, bugs, flowers and other living entities from the storybook.
