The only BHS approved facility in the Outer Hebrides, Uist Community Riding School offers a good variety of well mannered mounts for private and group lessons, which are available from 5 years upwards with experienced and qualified tuition. You needn't worry about there not being a horse suited to you: there are over 30 horses and ponies living happily in the Riding School ranging from the 3 weeny Shetlands all the way up to a 16 hand Clydesdale!
For the even younger visitors there are horse-handling sessions, cart trips and teddy bear racing (tie your teddy in the saddle and watch it race over the jumps!). Sand and countryside hacking with an experienced group leader is also available for families at the glorious Hebridean beaches.
Older riders looking for additional skills can access tuition in jumping, dressage, polo, or horse and stable management. During the summer months (weather providing) there are also a number of special events laid on such as gymkhanas, a summer camp, longer distance rides and own-a-pony days.
They supply riding kit and safety gear but if it's your first time be sure to check with them about appropriate dress, as certain types of shoes and trousers can make your pony uncomfortable.
Booking available year round with extended opening hours & events in summer
Prices are tailored to your visit dependent on group size, age range, & ride type so be sure to call them ahead of your trip
