Stockeld Park: A Christmas Adventure

Our Welcome & Christmas Parade

Today we visited the beautiful Stokeld Park for the first time ever! I had heard amazing things from friends and family prior to visiting and it did not disappoint.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by such lovely staff who talked us through how the whole park works, gave us our wristbands and a little map which explained what was coming up throughout the day. We arrived at around 11:30am which was perfect timing as the Christmas parade was about to start.

My son was so excited to see the adorable unicorns, Jingle the elf and Santa himself accompanied by Mrs Claus! The characters were spectacular and really gave it their all when interacting with the crowd. The staff were so lovely cheering everyone on and getting the children involved too!

After the parade, we had a quick sit down in the cafe to feed my baby boy and what I loved was that it was so warm and toasty in there. Decorated beautifully and really spacious for pushchairs etc! There was also a window where you could sit and watch the people ice skating while enjoying your food.

Festive Activities

We then enjoyed having a good look around at all the decorations and headed to the Enchanted Forest, I imagine this is even more magical in the evening when it is all lit up but even still we found it super pretty.

There were so many familiar scenes from movies you will have seen and storybooks we all read growing up!  The trees were adorned with colourful bulbs, creating a mesmerising path that beckoned us further into the magical realm. The soft glow of the lights created a warm and inviting atmosphere, setting the perfect festive tone.

My son particularly enjoyed that there were little slides and play areas throughout to break up the walk, let off some steam and enjoy the outdoors. There were also musical instruments around the forest which was great for getting everyone interacting and taking part! The colours of everything were so vibrant and the atmosphere was truly fantastic.

As we got closer to the end of the forest walk we found the cutest spot where all of Santa’s reindeer were relaxing next to his sleigh, safe to say the little ones were over the moon to see them!

Food & Drink

Following that we headed for some lunch which normally as a family of 4 is absolute chaos but it was honestly seamless. The staff were really friendly when taking my order, the food came out quickly and was so tasty.

My husband and son got a hot dog which did not disappoint, I got a tuna sandwich to keep room for my delicious doughnut and we each got a hot chocolate with all the trimmings which really got us in the spirit. I was extra impressed with the little station that was set up with a microwave and even bottle-warming docks to help with feeding your little ones instead of having to ask staff to warm things up. This was a small thing that really does make all the difference as a parent when you are just wanting to enjoy quality time with your kids!

While eating our lunch we could hear the pantomime going on in the next room which sounded amazing, they were singing lots of Christmas songs which had my eldest dancing along and it really added to the atmosphere.

I even see they had a little seating area for the children to sit and write their letter to Santa, every little detail had been thought of in regards to making your day truly magical.

Ice Skating

After dinner we went ice skating, we took it in turns skating around with our 4-year-old as we had the baby with us but we had the funniest time.

There was no waiting time and plenty of space for everyone, plus little plastic penguins for us not-so-confident skaters! The rink was well-maintained, and the skates provided were in excellent condition. The Christmas music in the background really added to the atmosphere and had everyone in a good mood.

Indoor Play & Gift Shop

We then headed down to the indoor play area where my husband sat with the baby and had a coffee while I took our eldest for a play. There were 2 rooms, one for younger kids and one for older but really you could easily mix in both.

Aubyn loved the big slides, banana throwing game and climbing areas, you got an hour and a half per session which was a really good amount of time with lots to do in there.

We also had a walk around the maze which was great fun and hilarious when you get lost and need to find your way back.

After such a lovely afternoon we headed to the gift shop which was so cute, there was a Grinch area plus a whole room dedicated to the cheeky elves which my eldest loved. Staff again were so friendly, offered to take a family photo for us and thanked us for coming. We left around 3:30pm as we had somewhere to be but we would have stayed longer if we could!

Helpful Information

The toilets were all clean and tidy which is always a good thing, plus they had little steps dotted around for little ones to wash their hands! Which as a parent is so useful, so you don’t have to lift your child up and have water everywhere.

On top of that, there were also lots of baby changing facilities, one in the disabled toilet, one in the women’s cubicle and also 2 outside of the cubicle. Which again is so thoughtful to prevent you from waiting around taking time away from enjoying all the park has to offer.

Our Conclusion…

Overall, the attention to detail and thoughtful planning were evident at every turn, creating a festive atmosphere that truly embraced the spirit of Christmas.

We had the most magical little day and I would highly recommend a visit with your family this Christmas!
