What is Big Football Day?

Big Football Day is a special event to celebrate and get excited about England in the Women’s World Cup this Summer. It even has a unique hashtag for the event #letgirlsplay.

Big Football Day will be held on Saturday 22nd July 2023 with football clubs across the country being invited to get involved. A variety of activities will be on offer for everyone in the local community to come together and take part. So whether you are a fan, player, coach or just want to try football for the first time there’s an event for you!

From football taster sessions, to coaching workshops and special screenings of Women’s World Cup matches there really is something for everyone.

Football Taster Sessions

There will be 6 different taster session themes to pick from. So, you can try playing football for the first time or test out your skills and see if you or your child would like to play regularly.

Women’s World Cup Watch Parties

Many of the Big Football events will have the first Women’s World Cup match available to watch on big screens. A great way to support the team and soak up the atmosphere with other football fans. There are even plans for other fun activities such as live music and face painting at some events.

Get involved with your local football club

Stepping over the sidelines is a new initiative that aims to encourage mums and other female carers to take more of an active part with their child’s football team. This female only workshop explores the opportunity for getting involved in coaching and volunteering to help with local football clubs
