Chislehurst Caves

"what are we doing today?"

One of the few places left where you actually have your own guide to escort you around, no boring reading posters on the wall here! Things are explained to you, and you can ask questions if you don't understand something.

No two tours are exactly the same, as each of the guides has their own unique style. Chislehurst Caves should hold the imagination of even the most easily bored child and if nothing else, there are twenty miles of tunnels to wear them out! There is also a Gift Shop where you can buy anything from a pencil to a Dragon.

"i'm hungry"

Licensed Cafe open weekends and local school holidays serving Home cooked meals, Breakfasts, Lunches or just Tea and Cakes. There is also a large free Car Park.

healthy food

Food freshly prepared on site.

"Can I have one of those?"

Anything from a pencil to a Dragon!

"i need a wee"

Toilets including a disabled toilet are available in the reception area, remember there are none in the caves, you have been warned!

"are we there yet?"

Take the A222 between the A20 and the A21, at Chislehurst Railway Bridge, turn into Station Approach, and turn right at the end past the Bickley Arms and right again into Caveside Close. Regular trains from Charing Cross, 269 or 162 buses to Chislehurst Station. The Caves are just a short walk away.

...got any top tips?

The caves are not really suitable for buggies as the floors are quite uneven (a bit like cobblestones), for the same reason sensible shoes are recommended. If you are visiting in the summer remember that the caves will feel quite cool so cover up.
