Home to the largest collection of monkeys and apes in the Western World and its very own nature reserve is Twycross Zoo.
Around 500 animals over 150 species set in more than 80 acres of land make up this World Primate Centre, which won BIAZA’s (British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums) Best Sustainable Zoo in 2013. See Asian elephants, snow leopards, penguins, meerkats, hyenas and the world’s rarest big cat – the Amur leopard.
You can take a walk with the ring-tailed lemurs, let the tamarins leap above your head in their treetop exhibit and watch the Humbolt penguins take their daily walk. You can also become reacquainted with the UK’s only group of Bonobos, or ‘the forgotten ape’.
Finally, let your own little monkeys go wild in the multi-tired soft play area suitable from ages 0-12, while you enjoy a meal in the Himalaya Centre that overlooks the snow leopard enclosure.
Take a walk on the really wild side!
