Tredegar House has been a home for hundreds of years. The current house was built in the Restoration period but the historic Morgan family in Wales have had the site as a home since medieval times! See if you can spot the telltale signs of old stone and brick in the Cedar Garden.
Your kids will be fascinated by how much history Tredegar House has lived through. The dressing-up box has costumes made to explore the different ages of the house. Will you be a Restoration lady, a Victorian gentleman, or will you go for the 1920s and 1930s looks? They can also play with shadow puppets in the New Parlour.
Play the Servants Challenge in the kitchen, where cook has left you messages all over the kitchen about things you can and can't do when serving the nobles! Would you have passed the test or would you just prefer to be waited on?
With 90 acres of parkland and three gardens to explore, there's plenty to see outside. Look out for the mighty Sequoia redwoods, and don't forget to touch the bark to see how springy it is, or walk in Oak Avenue. Frolic in formal gardens and wander in the rambling Orchard or parklands – and feel free to bring your dog!
