The new glass floor in the West Walkway is around 11m long and 2m wide and offers your family the unique perspective of looking down a whopping 42m to the Thames beneath you! It's not as frightening as it sounds but it's pretty affecting none the less, so don't try talking smalls with fears up there unless you're sure they can handle it! The East Walkway has just been given the same treatment and is now open again with its own glass flooring!
It is well worth noting however that kids who don't fancy the vertigo can still enjoy the other walkways provided, all of which still have the panoramic views but a more reassuring floor to enjoy it from!
At the other extreme of the structure you can delve into the depths of the historic engine rooms: great staring fare for the smalls and fascinating facts for the older types, with animations and digital displays to help keep them interested. Loads to learn in this bit, if you've a mind to!
You can also choose from a selection of guided tours which range from behind the scenes engineering tours to combination jobs which also take in a trip to the Monument. Ideal for more academic visits so you can get the very most detail and data from the experience. Brilliant for supporting school work!
Plus their photographic exhibition showcases the amazing engineering of 20 other stunning bridges from around the world. We defy you to be unimpressed!
And of course you're in the capital and surrounded by all sorts of things to see and do, so why stop here? Hit up our listings for some more fun to extend your day out a bit further without having to travel far. Enjoy!
