Chester Zoo recently welcomed ten fluffy Humboldt penguin chicks, now venturing into their pool and beginning to socialise with the adult colony. It’s one of the most adorable (and popular) sights this summer, with conservation impact too — these penguins are classed as vulnerable in the wild.
Ten baby Humboldt penguins have just hatched! Watch them take their first swims this summer at Chester Zoo.
In a UK first, Chester Zoo has successfully hatched four rare maccoa ducklings, a significant conservation milestone. Native to eastern and southern Africa, these striking blue-billed ducks are near-threatened, and this hatching is part of a vital breeding programme to protect the species.
A rare and threatened species bred as part of a global conservation effort.
