The Vale of Rheidol Railway takes your family on an unforgettable journey through the beautiful Rheidol Valley on a charming narrow gauge steam train.
The Vale of Rheidol Railway is one of 'the Great Little Trains of Wales' and is known for its fantastic scenery. Travelling 12 Miles from Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge you'll have a unique hour long (each way) trip climbing 600ft to reach Devil's Bridge Station, Nestled within the mountains. All ages enjoy the views of the Rheidol Valley from the vintage carriages, especially when you get to see a Red Kite swooping past.
For an extra £3 each you can even treat yourselves and sit in the First Class Observation Saloon! However if you're taking the family hound you'll be restricted to 3rd class.
There are several intermediate stations en route but if you take the whole journey through to the Devil's Bridge there is a cafe, toilets and a picnic area waiting for you! If you fancy staying at Devils Bridge and expanding the family adventure then why not take a walk to the famous Mynach Falls, Jacob's Ladder and the Devil's Punchbowl, which are all within walking distance of the station!
There's an audio tour for a small fee which can tell you more about the railway too, but remember to get it from the folks at Aberystwyth Station!
There are a few additional special events held here every year like the Drive A Steam Train experience days, Steam Festivals, Evening trips during high summer and an annual Halloween Ghost Train service too!
