Attraction Information
The Ruislip Lido Railwayis a 12 inch (305mm) gauge railway that is operated entirely by volunteers, and is the longest exact railway of its kind in the UK!
The line runs from the main station at Woody Bay, by the beach, on a 1.02 mile (1.64km) track around the reservoir, passing through Ruislip Woods to Willow Lawn Station (previously known as Ruislip Lido), which is close to the car park. Here you can watch the loco being turned on the turntable, ready for the return journey. The 2.5 mile (3.28km) round trip takes about 35 minutes, and offers some inexpensive fun for all ages.
The service is normally operated by one of their large diesel locomotives. On summer Sundays and Bank Holidays, their steam locomotive 'Mad Bess', which is a half scale version of the Ffestiniog Railway locomotive 'Blanche', may pull the train. All of the locomotives are wheelchair, pushchair, and buggy friendly.
