Attraction Information

The National Memorial Arboretum is the Nation’s year-round place to remember, a space where everyone can celebrate lives lived and remember lives lost.

A beautiful and inspiring place, the 150-acres of the Arboretum form a living landscape, a home to more than 400 memorials waiting to be discovered. Miles of pathways make exploring accessible, and a programme of exhibitions and daily talks, along with land train, buggy and walking tours help bring our stories to life.

Our facilities include:

- Onsite Car Park with level access into the Arboretum

- A friendly welcome and expert volunteer guides

- Accessible toilets, including baby changing facilities and a Changing Places Toilet.

- Mobility scooters and wheelchairs available for hire

- On site Coffee Shop and Restaurant with a fresh daily menu featuring locally sourced ingredients

- Two children's play areas and Stick Man outdoor trail

Things to do:

The National Memorial Arboretum has something for all ages, from outdoor trails and holiday activities, to leisurely strolls that can end at one of our children's play areas.

Our youngest visitors will enjoy joining Stick Man on his journey back to the family tree. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for Stick Man himself along the route! You can pick up a free copy of the self-led trail from our Welcome Desk, available everyday.

Here at the Arboretum, we also have two outdoor play areas available for young visitors to enjoy. Our Children’s Sensory Play Garden can be found near to the Remembrance Centre. A second children’s play area, with a picnic area, can be found further into the Arboretum grounds.

Our daily activities include Land Train tours, guided walks and free daily talks. We also hold lots of exciting activities throughout the year which are designed to help our youngest visitors learn more about the Arboretum, why it’s important to remember and the wildlife in our grounds - you can find out more about what is coming up on our website.

Food and Drink:

Our restaurant is open 10am – 3pm daily and serves a range of hot food, sandwiches, soups and cakes suitable for all ages.

Our range of children’s meals ensure that even the pickiest eaters will find something they can enjoy.

Families can dine in our indoor and outdoor seating area, or you can bring your sandwiches with you and enjoy them in our many picnic and play areas. You’ll find one of our picnic areas next to the Children’s Play area in the Children’s Wood.

We kindly ask that only food purchased from the Arboretum is consumed in our Restaurant and Coffee Shop.

Travel and Parking:

The Arboretum is located just off the A38/A513 between Lichfield and Burton upon Trent. If you are using a Sat Nav to find us, please use our postcode DE13 7AR.

We have two large car parks, one next to our Remembrance Centre and the other around 300 metres, on the left, past the entrance to the Arboretum on Croxall Road.

Wider blue badge and family friendly spaces, available on a first-come-first served basis, can be found near to the Remembrance Centre. A drop-off/pick-up area is located next to our entrance.

While entry into the Arboretum is free, a small parking charge applies to all cars, including blue badge holders, to help support the work of the Arboretum, a UK registered charity (1043992).

Parking is charged at £4 for vehicles that have booked in advance, or £6 on the day.

Further information, including getting to us using public transport, can be found on our website.

Accessibility:

We aim to cater for the needs of all our visitors and try to accommodate all access requirements where possible.

We have 15 disabled parking spaces located close to the Remembrance Centre. These spaces are allocated on a first come, first serve basis and cannot be reserved in advance. Access from our carpark to, and around, the Remembrance Centre is level and there is a drop off point with a dropped curb at the entrance.

Whilst visitors are welcome to bring their own mobility aids to use, many visitors choose to hire a mobility scooter or wheelchair from us for the duration of their visit. Mobility Scooters can be hired at a daily charge, and wheelchairs for a donation of your choice. We have a limited number of each available, so we advise booking these online ahead of your visit.

Our Changing Places Toilet is located in the Remembrance Centre, where there is level access, and there are two further accessible toilets within the Remembrance Centre and one in Heroes' Square to the left of the Coffee Shop.

Please visit our website to download our full accessibility guide.
