Attraction Information

Highlanders Museum traces the history of the Seaforth Highlanders, The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders and the Queen's Own Highlanders (Seafort and Camerons) since the late 1700s.
There are also items from the Liverpool Scottish and Lovat Scouts, plus from their Allied Regiments from New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the Gurkhas.
Located in the 250 year old Fort George, which has been a training depot and military garrison during this time and still houses a Regular Infantry Battalion of the British Army. There is a great view from the top and sometimes you can see Orcas, dolphins and seals.
There are thousands of items to look at over the three floors, including photos, medals and uniforms. The medals and awards collections has 22 Victoria Crosses, a set of Colours carried at the Battle of Waterloo and Kind Edwards VIII's regimental uniform.
The darker side of the collection include a box used by Adolf Hitler for his personal papers, plus “death pennies”, which are WW1 memorial plaques.
