Attraction Information

Weary traveller, you've ended up in the wrong place - we just hope you make it out... alive!

Are you a family of thrill-seekers or dark history buffs? Take an underground journey into the Edinburgh Dungeon and discover the depths of Scottish history, in an immersive tour like no other. Filled with fantastic acting, a witch hunt, state-of-the-art theming and notorious rogues, your inquisitive youngster will have their imaginations lit ablaze!

Experience the sights, sounds and - ahem - smells of Scotland’s grim history. The Edinburgh Dungeon is 80 minutes of immersive theatre, thrilling rides and winding cobbled streets that lead you into the heart of Scotland's spookiest eras. You'll find the tour both hilarious and terrifying all at once!

Things To Do
So, you've arrived in the underground city of Edinburgh and you've begun your immersive journey but what should you expect?

Prepare to be spooked by an array of indoor attractions! The site plays host to some of the saltiest characters in Scotland’s history, including prolific serial killers and their torturous wardens. Their horrible history will be brought to life before your very eyes and trust us, they’re only for those with strong stomachs! Oh, expect a smidge of the Black Plague too...

Meet a famous lineup of costumed characters like the ferocious and legendary witch, Agnes Finnie; the murderous duo, Burke and Hare and the infamous cannibal, Sawney Bean. You’ll find him in the caverns of Galloway, just make sure he doesn’t find you first!

Throughout 11 live special effects shows on 360-degree stages, you’ll be thrown right into the grizzly action. That includes the stench of Edinburgh, and pre-proper sewage systems! Take a boat ride, explore a labyrinthine mirror maze or accuse or be accused in the new to 2017, Witch Hunt. It’s all raucous fare but given the strong content, isn’t appropriate for young kids or those with a nervous disposition. If you have a dark sense of humour - you'll love it.

Listen to the gruesome stories - there's many to choose from. From a story about body snatchers to witch trials, these hair-raising tales will have your heart pounding. Take a walk down the Auld Reekie (Old Smelly) road but be quick, you never know who's around the corner...

Illuminated by magnificent theatrical actors, this captivating day out is great all year round, not just for Halloween! Get your spook on at the Edinburgh Dungeon and enjoy and book your tickets today.

Food & Drink
1-2 hours of horror, storytelling and underground rides are enough to make anyone famished! So where should you go for a bite to eat? Unfortunately, there are no onsite food & drink facilities however, the Edinburgh Dungeon has lots of great recommendations with some restaurants having a twisted history behind them too...

Makars Gourmet Mash Bar- If you are going to eat somewhere in Scotland it better be the best right? The world-renowned Makars Gourmet Mash Bar is a must-visit for authentic Scottish cuisine. it's perfect for a casual lunch or dinner with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options to enjoy too!

Banshee Labyrinth - Ever wondered what it would be like to dine in Scotland's most haunted pub? Half of the Banshee Labyrinth was once part of the infamous “underground Vaults” - the haunt of criminals, thieves and the very unsavoury... This pub is a great family-run alternative venue hosting live music, cinema, comedy as well as three bars and a pool room!

Mimi's Bakehouse - Mimi's Bakehouse is a family-run bakery & restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, afternoon teas & a tempting selection of cakes for all occasions.
