Attraction Information
Classic Boat Museum Cowes is a great place to take the kids in any weather. There is a great selection (more than 50!) of power boats, sailing boats, rowing boats and canoes.
The museum also has a large number of photographic collections. There are so many that only a few samples of each are shown at a time. They even have glass plates from the Victorian era.
There are plenty of displays for the kids to enjoy such as films, tools, models and many items associated with the history of boating, including trophies loaned by Dame Ellen MacArthur, classic wooden boats and navigation devices.
There is also a gallery across on Colombine Road and you can choose to visit both using a combined ticket! The Gallery is packed with archives, photographic collections and maritime paraphernalia, a more educational and less visually striking side so with smaller kids or a flying visit you're best sticking with the museum!
This is an interesting place to spend a few hours with the kids and the museum is all on one level so it provides easy access for all. The staff are friendly and are happy to share their knowledge if you or the kids have any questions about something you see, so keep em peeled, landlubbers!
