Attraction Information
The 1620s House and Garden, previously known as Donington Le Heath Manor House, is an excellent example of a family home that was built around 700 years ago, and updated in 1618. A great way for your family to see how life has changed during that time!
Newly refurbished and re-opened in 2016, the original manor house was once owned and fashionably ‘modernised' around 1618 by the family of Everard Digby, one of the infamous Gunpowder Plotters. See restored rooms and displays on medieval life, experience living history re-enactments, or enjoy special seasonal events including pleasant summer evening performances in the recreated 17th century style gardens.
Period gardens and woodland surround the Manor House, and include flower and herb gardens, an orchard, and an ornamental maze. If you fancy some refreshment after all that exploring, try the Old Barn Tearoom, which is open at weekends during term time, and Wednesday to Sunday during school holidays.
