Suitable for ages: Young Children (4-8), Older Children (9-12) and Teenagers (13-18)

Venue type: Indoor, Outdoor

At the iconic yet welcoming Tate Modern, you and the kids can join the Start workshops every weekend or Tuesday to Sunday throughout August.

At the gallery you can also pick up a free art trail that acts as a fun guide through the artworks. These activities are always free, always fun and most importantly, they encourage children's creativity and enjoyment of art.

The permanent collection at Tate Modern is always free to visit, and at Tate all children under 12 gain free access to the special exhibitions when accompanied by a paying adult, so it's cheaper and easier than ever to get your culture fix and explore the lot!

Families are really welcome there and the exhibits are designed with you in mind. The Interactive Zone on the level 4 concourse at Tate Modern is bursting with ideas and activities to help you get to know more about 20th century art and artists for some mass inspiration.

As well as taking in the art history timelines on the walls (illustrated by Sara Fanelli) you can: enjoy a range of hands on games; watch films relating to the art on display at Tate Modern; explore interactive multimedia experiences and read books about art. All still free!

The main shop on Level 1 combines the widest range in the UK of books on modern art and culture with a fantastic choice for children and a stunning display of merchandise.
