Attraction Information
The Tarbat Discovery Centre is interesting before you even get inside, with it being housed in the old Parish Church which was the only Pictish monastic settlement discovered in Scotland. You can learn about this further on site with the introductory video shown in The Laird's Loft.
The exhibitions focus specifically on this peninsula so it's very much a trip either born of regional affection or for study. There have been vast archaeological excavations and the products of these will be of most interest to the smalls. The crypt and barrel vault is also a delight to the brave ones but you might want to give it due consideration with young or sensitive kids. To help keep younger ones busy they provide colouring sheets and rubbing boards.
Venturing beyond the gallery walls you can follow The Pictish Sculpture Trail and discover the immense carved stones, but be warned it will take some planning and energy as they're some distance apart.
Local exhibitions, classes and special seasonal activities are also often hosted here.
