- Castles and Palaces
Suitable for all ages
Venue type: Indoor, Outdoor
Step back in time and experience Medieval life at Tamworth Castle. Explore Tudor and Stuart chambers, grand Victorian reception rooms and the magnificent late Medieval Great Hall. With hands-on displays and period costumes to try on, your little ones will soon be immersed in the life of kings and queens.
Become part of the household - sit at the dining table during a Tudor banquet, help out with some of the daily choirs and learn to write your name in Saxon runes. Put on a wig, slip into a period costume and turn into a Georgian for a day. Brave young knights will have the chance to try on real armour, hold a sword and make their own coat of arms.
There’s plenty to do outside at the castle grounds, too. Visiting with kids under 14? Continue your royal adventure in the castle’s enclosed outdoor play park, which features a huge play castle and a pirate ship. Up for something sporty? Skatepark, tennis court, green bowling and 9-hole crazy golf are all available for your family to enjoy.

Brilliant Dragon Hunt
Written by Anonymous . 19.02.16
Grandma and Jevan (aged 6) went on the Dragon Hunt as a half term treat. We had a great time - so much to look at and do in the castle as well as looking for clues to find Ruby the Dragon (glitter trails and green poo). The helpers were kind and gave us tips about what to look for, as well as helping to make dragon friendly badges. When we finally met Ruby, everyone was delighted, especially when they received a chocolate bar from her basket! We loved it all!
