Attraction Information
St Werburghs City Farm, a green oasis in the heart of the city, is designed to connect people to food, the local community, and the environment, and care and oversee 4 different sites within the area. These include the farm site, a Community Garden, a 2.5 acre wildlife woodland, and 13 acres of community allotments, which really gives the area a country feel.
The City Farm is a small holding that enables people growing up in city centres to learn about farm animals, and why they keep them. Animals include a small flock of Jacob sheep (and lambs in Spring), some friendly, but mischievous goats, 2 Gloucester Old Spot sows (and often piglets!), a flock of ducks, a few rabbits, and a clutch of chickens. Spring time sees new lambs on the farm and if you time your visit right, you may be able to see a new born lamb take its first steps, or help bottle feed baby goats! It's ideal for animal lovers of all ages.
There is an adventure playground in front of the larch decking next to the City Farm Cafe, which is hidden by mature trees, linked by sandy paths and log steps. Sand toys are available during warmer months for younger visitors, and there is a climbing frame, cargo nets, and a fireman's pole for older kids! Great for when you fancy a rest stop and they don't want to stop at all!
St Werburghs City Farm runs activity days for all ages, from pre-schoolers, up through to work experience students, so check their site for that information. Farmyard Trail booklets are available from the office to help you make sure you and the kids get the most out of your visit, so be sure to pick one up as you come in!
