Suitable for all ages
Venue type: Outdoor
St Cyrus offers a pale sandy beach great for traditional family days with castling, paddling and long nature walks available. Traditional salmon fishing with nets is quite popular here so that's nice to watch for the smalls if the fisherfolk don't mind, and you can also view the ice houses which freeze the salmon before sending off to be sold.
It's apparently quite quiet generally, and offers fairly safe shallow swimming though no lifeguard cover is provided so stay shallow and keep 'em peeled!
Immediate vicinity amenities are limited to toilet facilities. The national nature reserve lies next to the beach, so there's nice walks and oodles of natural wildlife there.

Year round access. No lifeguard cover at any time.

You're pretty isolated here, the nearest refreshment facilities are available in St Cyrus and Kirkton nearby, so be sure to pack a picnic and plenty of supplies!
Toilet facilities located beachside, but they're pretty rustic by all accounts.

Very disappointed with the totally inaccurate information given by this site on St Cyrus. St Cyrus is 7 miles from Laurencekirk which is inland. There is a gorgeous beach which has a toilet block and an information centre run by rangers from St Cyrus Nature Reserve. At the moment (Aug 17) there is a humpback whale that's has been feeding here for over a week. A beautiful sight to see. It is not an isolated village at all. The village itself has a well stocked shop, pub with accommodation and a lovely village cafe. A short drive either way up the coast and there are fantastic fish and chip shops and restaurants serving fresh fish, lobster etc.Travelling north there is the City of Aberdeen and South the City of Dundee. St Cyrus is a beautiful place.
