The family recreation facilities include several footpaths and cycle ways suitable for wheelchair access, a cool little playground with swings, slides and other fun features to amuse younger kids, and ‘Xtreme Supreme', an excellent, dedicated BMX and skate area! There is also an all-weather sports court, and a field for informal sports, such as football.
If you fancy getting back to nature, there are a variety of habitats to explore, including 2 lakes, Hydneye to the south, which is open for fishing by permit, and the larger northern lake, Shinewater, which is devoted to wildlife conservation. And there is plenty of wildlife to look out for, with insects such as dragonflies and butterflies, and loads of different birds.
There are plenty of water birds, including swans, ducks, moorhens, and Great Crested Grebes to name a few. Herons can often be seen hidden amongst reeds at the water's edge, waiting for fish, and there are plenty of cormorants, often seen hanging out on the pylons!
