At Shibden Hall discover a gem that is soon to have its very own BBC and HBO Drama.
Created by Sally Wainwright, ‘Gentleman Jack’, will be filmed in 2018, and you have the chance to visit its historic location! The hall can be dated all the way back to 1420, and it houses an eccentric carriage collection, craftwork displays, and the fascinating tales of Anne Lister; a noted diarist who challenged 19th-century expectations of women.
Alongside learning about the hall’s history you will be surrounded by the Shibden estate’s spectacular gardens. There is a miniature railway, a boating lake, a pitch and putt course, and adventure trails deep in the woodlands.Gift your family the right to shout ‘I was there!’ at the TV screen.

Due to the historic nature of Shibden Hall, wheelchair users are restricted to the ground floor only. The historic barn is accessible to a degree but has uneven cobbles on the floor. The Folk Museum is not accessible.
One car park is located up the hill from Shibden. Further parking is off Godley Lane by the lake and Mereside Cafe. Both car parks require parking tickets to be purchased. Disabled parking is available for Blue Badge holders next to the site (through Lister's Road).

Lovely place, play area is lovely split into 2 sections for older and younger. The boating lake was lovely or can just feed the ducks. The railway is simple and well priced my daughter loved it all. Will definitely take a picnic next time.
