So, are you ready to walk on the WILD side at an award-winning wildlife park?
This family-run wildlife park, near Royston in Hertfordshire, offers you the chance to get up close to some of the most endangered and incredible animals on the planet! The wildlife park was a former private sanctuary that was built as a refuge for injured and orphaned animals and has since transformed into a beautiful wildlife park dedicated to education and conversation work.
The Zoo
From the moment families step into Shepreth Wildlife Park, the adventure begins. Home to everything from majestic tigers and playful meerkats to exotic insects and reptiles, the park offers a unique window into the lives of animals from around the globe. Each exhibit is designed not only to entertain but to educate visitors about the natural world and the importance of preserving it for future generations.
Get ready to discover a range of beautiful animals, from majestic Sumatran tigers and the infamous capybaras to adorable Asian small-clawed otters, playful red pandas and ring-tailed lemurs!
Keeper talks and animal feeds run throughout the day with plenty of opportunities to learn more about your favourite animals. Plus there's a really cute panda feeding time talk! Red Panda's are just too adorable!!
Explore the natural grounds and incredible exhibits including the tropical exhibit, nocturnal exhibit and Monkey Island and make sure to look out for the interactive stations dotted around the park.
Oh and don't forget to stop off at Bug City to learn all about your favourite creepy crawlies! And head on over to the jetty to feed the fish and visit the Raptor (if you dare!).
Unique Experiences
Choose from a wide range of Wildlife Park Experiences including being a Junior Keeper for a day, a Tiger Keeper for a day, Animal Encounter sessions or even Meeting the Lemurs! You will get a behind-the-scenes tour of the park and learn all about how to care for the animals.
An important aspect of the Park is its involvement in the European endangered species programmes, breeding animals that are of conservation importance, hopefully ensuring the future safety from extinction for some of these species.
Educational Fun for All Ages
What sets Shepreth Wildlife Park apart is its dedication to providing educational experiences that captivate children and adults alike. Interactive talks, hands-on encounters, and feeding sessions allow visitors to learn about the animals' habits, diets, and conservation statuses directly from knowledgeable keepers. These experiences foster a deeper connection between visitors and the natural world, highlighting the park's role in wildlife conservation.
Conservation Work
Shepreth Wildlife Park's commitment to conservation is evident in its efforts to support endangered species, rehabilitate injured wildlife, and participate in breeding programs. Shepreth Wildlife Park is also home to its very own Hedgehog Hospital! Hedgehots are under threat from man-made changes to their natural habitat, they are often squeezed out of their natural homes and susceptible to injuries. Shepreth's Hedgehog Hospital treats and rehabilitates hedgehogs before releasing them back into the wild.
A Place for Play and Relaxation
Beyond the animal exhibits, the park offers play areas for children to let off steam, picturesque spots for family picnics, and pathways ideal for a leisurely stroll amidst nature. These spaces provide a perfect balance to the day, ensuring there's something for everyone.
