Sheffield Manor Lodge
Sheffield Manor Lodge is the last remains of what was once the Great Sheffield Deer Park. Today you can visit the Discovery Centre to find out how it has changed over its 600 year history and explore the ruins of the once grand Tudor mansion where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned for 14 years. Come on a Saturday tour and you may even run into Bess of Hardwick!
There have been animals on the site since medieval times and we are still a working farm today. You can see our Clydesdale horse, Big Lad, as well as our pigs, chickens, rabbits and donkeys: sometimes the donkeys even give rides!
In the school holidays children can come along to our themed craft sessions. Weâve done everything from willow weaving to flower printing to making Tudor soap. Please click the link here to see our website for details of sessions and other events.
New for 2014 are our 1940s cottages that recreate life on the eve of the Sheffield Blitz. Meet the people that lived there, have a go at doing the washing without any electricity and visit our dig for victory garden.
From spring to late autumn the site comes alive with our pictorial meadow flowers. You can see a unique landscape rich in colour and wildlife. Thereâs a handy adventure playground too.
When you're ready for something to eat you can visit the Rhubarb Shed cafe for a traditional farmhouse lunch or stop at one of the picnic areas located around the site.
