Attraction Information

Sefton Park has a good size children's play area which features swings, a decent slide, cool climbing frames, a round about, spring mobile ride on and a multi use play area for free play and running around!

One of the other main attractions of the park is the recently restored Palm House: this Victorian glasshouse, which opened in 1896, contains plant species from Africa, Asia, America, Australia, and Europe so you've got oodles of gorgeously lush foliage to have a nose around, with exotic touches that you simply don't see in England.

The Palm House also serves as host for different forms of entertainment throughout the year, including dance events, concerts and ceremonies so these are well worth keeping an eye out for especially around the summer holidays. The Grim Tales Workshops are fantastic for kids if you get into one!

Another popular attraction is the Peter Pan statue which was made by the famous British sculptor Sir George Frampton. The statue of the boy who never grew up is a lovely spot at which to sit and read some JM Barrie to the bigs or one of the popular adaptations more designed for the smalls.

Jogging, cycling, and lawn tennis are also popular activities in Sefton Park as is kite flying in the right weather. But many people visit the park just for relaxation in a tranquil setting of lawns, woodlands, and water features so it's really whatever you want to make of it.

It may be of interest to parents that apparently the bandstand here provided the inspiration for the song The Beatles' Sgt Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band! Also it's worth noting that St Michael's Station is a mere 0.2 miles away, so it's easy to extend your day out with a nice little train ride too!
